Hancock County Schools Enhances Safety Measures Following Incident
Hancock County Schools is committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. This Afternoon, an elementary student was found in possession of a weapon. Thanks to the swift response of our resource officers and staff, the situation was handled immediately, and everyone remained safe at all times. While there was no threat to students or staff, we believe in full transparency and want to keep our community informed about the steps we are taking to enhance security.
Starting tomorrow, all students at the elementary school will be required to go through metal detectors and safety checks each morning for the remainder of the school year. To ensure a smooth and efficient process, students will enter through designated entry points at the side of the school and the back of the gym. Please know that these measures are being implemented strictly as a precaution to reinforce our ongoing commitment to school safety.
