Students from Hancock Central High School, Hancock Central Middle School, and John Hancock Academy truly stood out at the 2024 JR/SR 4-H Project Achievement. Their exemplary efforts made the three days at Rock Eagle truly memorable. With 35 portfolios submitted, Hancock County 4-H secured the second-highest number, a testament to their dedication and diligence. Moreover, boasting the largest contingent of senior 4-Hers (9th-12th grade) at Rock Eagle further displays their commitment to excellence.
Among the outstanding achievements, two students, Angel Clark/Heath in Safety and Dontriel Grable in Food Preservation, emerged as first-place winners, earning them a well-deserved spot at the 4-H Congress in July. In the junior category, Preston Holsey clinched 1st place in Food for Health & Sport, while Kelynisia Sanford and JuRia Shelton secured 2nd place in Workforce Prep and Dairy Food, respectively. Caelyn Hill's commendable performance in Dairy Food earned her 3rd place accolades.
Seniors also made remarkable strides, with Jaylen Burton, Addison Kent, and Jonathon Posley securing 2nd place in Food Preservation, Performing Arts, and Housing, respectively. Jace Glover and Michael Holsey claimed 3rd place in Food Preservation and Food for Fitness and Sport, demonstrating versatility and skill.
Sincere gratitude goes to the Hancock County Commissioners and Hancock County Board of Education for their steadfast support of our Hancock County 4-Hers. Such support is invaluable in nurturing the potential and aspirations of our youth. While the highlights of the event have been shared, a glimpse into the full experience can be found on the Hancock Counrt Facebook page.
